At Bibliothíki Frangískos we have books in many genres and languages, for all ages. Residents of Itháki can borrow books for a month at a time. Tourist pilgrims on the Homeric trail may borrow books until the end of their stay on the island, and leave them in our PO Box (Thirída 10) at the post office in Vathy.
There is no membership fee, but we accept donations in the form of local olive oil, wine, a juicy bone for Rokku, treats for our cats Simsim & Nażim, second-hand books, or cash in the κουμπαράς (piggy or bibliobank).
A searchable cat-alogue of books, compiled with Don Pablo (descanse en poesía) and Simsim, will be available soon.
Below is a list of each τμήμα (section), and examples using the BibFran / ΒιβΦραγ numbering system. Each publication carries a playing card, showing a Greek letter for the τμήμα or είδος (genre), a Greek letter for the main language of the book, Latin letters for the author initials, and a sequential number.
